1. Confirm your income (1 min)
If you haven’t already, finish getting set up — it captures your taxable income (and your partner’s if applicable) alongside the basics NestWise needs. To update your income for the year, open your income. These are the same figures Centrelink would see — gross taxable, before tax.
2. Add your top 5 bills (2 min)
Open Bills and use the quick-add chips (Mortgage, Power, Internet, Mobile, Insurance). Each chip pre-fills the category + frequency — you just add the amount + next due date.
Or from anywhere in the app, tap the + button in the bottom bar → Bill — same form, less scrolling.
3. Rough out everyday spend (1 min)
Open Money → Expenses (“Everyday spend budget” section). Add a rough monthly figure for:
- Groceries
- Fuel + transport
- Dining + takeaway
- Kids’ variable extras
Doesn’t have to be exact — a round figure is fine. We’ll compare it against your bank transactions once you import a CSV.
4. Read the picture
Open Money. The dark header up top is your Money OS. Below it, the This month hero shows:
- Money in — take-home per month (gross − tax)
- Money out — bills + everyday spend, monthly
- Surplus or deficit — the gap, monthly + annualised
Below that the Cashflow waterfall shows the full annual picture — income → tax → childcare → what gov puts back → take-home. Tap any bar for the breakdown.
5. Import a bank CSV (optional, 1 min)
Once you import a bank statement from Cashflow → Import, the Everyday Spend section grows under/over chips per category. Now you can see whether your $800/mo grocery budget actually held up.
